Precision Underground Inc is owned by Christopher and Sara Ryckman. Prior to starting his own business, Chris Ryckman worked in the pipeline industry traveling the United States and working on many different pipeline projects. He loved the opportunity to travel and see the different landscapes of the country. More importantly he made many long time friendships. Chris used the knowledge he learned on the pipeline to start Precision Underground in 2008 along with his wife Sara.
Using their spare bedroom as their office and the side streets of Bismarck as a place to park the equipment, the business had its first client in April 2008. Chris started out with a small Vermeer 10x15 boring machine and a Case Backhoe. Chris hired his brother, David, to work with him full time through the spring, summer, and fall of 2008 installing mostly rural water lines in western North Dakota. Gradually, the business established relationships with rural electric cooperatives to begin installing power cable underground. In seven short years the business grew from a two man operation with one drill and one backhoe to employ more than twenty five employees and running eight crews using boring machines, trenchers, plows and backhoes to install various types and sizes of pipe and conduit.
The business continues to focus on growth in the boring and plowing operations.
